What is the Voice Project?
The Voice Project has been set up to help frontline voluntary and community (VCS) organisations all over Derbyshire understand more about how Derbyshire County Council and it’s partners are working together to deliver public services.
The project does not cover the Derby City area because previously much of this work was done by the Community Empowerment Network in Derby City. Currently a new and simliar project is out to tender funded by Derby City Council. Derbyshire has a two-tier system, i.e. it has both County and District Councils and the Voice Project works with both.
There have been some major changes to how the public, private and voluntary sectors are working together to deliver services. If you are a member of your local infrastructure support organisation, like a CVS, you may have heard of some of these changes already however, there are still many organisations that don’t know about these changes yet or how the changes might affect them.
The Voice Project Officer aims to support the VCS in many ways;
- by bringing you the latest news via an LAA Bulletin No.1 (Sep 2008)
- by offering you training in your area to explain what the changes mean within your district or county
- by working with public sector partners to improve two way understanding and partnership working
- by keeping this website up to date with papers from meetings you might want to know more about
- by organising special events to raise awareness of particular issues which might affect the VCS
- by providing a point of contact for any organisation that wants to know more about Local Area Agreements or Local Strategic Partnerships
