Introduction

Third Sector Support for Derbyshire (3D)

There are an estimated 5000 third sector groups and organisations operating across Derby and Derbyshire. Often referred to as the voluntary and community sector, these groups include:

  • charities (small and large)
  • self help groups
  • community associations
  • single issue campaign groups
  • sports clubs
  • neighbourhood projects
  • health and social care projects
  • environmental groups
  • social enterprises
  • training providers
  • advice organizations
  • community interest companies

- as well as many others. They are supported by 25 local, third sector support organisations such as councils for voluntary service (CVS), volunteer centres and other, more specialist, agencies

Between them the 27 members of 3D employ 341 FTE staff, have a collective membership of almost 3,000 and provide a service to over 12,000 third sector public sector agencies and individuals in Derby and Derbyshire.

3D provides support for third sector voluntary & community organisations in Derby & Derbyshire.

It achieves this as a partnership of Derby & Derbyshire support organisations, working together to develop the support services offered to the third sector.
