Volunteer Centre Derbyshire Dales

Operates to help volunteers find the right opportunity - and to help organisations find the right volunteer.

Our role in the support and development of volunteering activity across the Derbyshire Dales helps strengthen the many voluntary and community groups that help make the Dales such a rewarding and vibrant place to live.

Types of Services:

Our main activity is the support and development of volunteering in the Derbyshire Dales.

In addition to helping to attract new volunteers and introducing them to the right volunteering role, we also provide advice, guidance and training to organisations that seek and work with volunteers. For more information contact Sam Tock (01629 810907), who is based in our Bakewell office and covers the Northern Derbyshire Dales, or call Debbie Webster (01335 218604), who is based at our Ashbourne office and covers the Southern Derbyshire Dales.

Our ‘Volunteer Outreach and Involvement Project’ works with rural and sports groups across Derbyshire, to raise awareness of the support and services available to them from their local Volunteer Centre.

The ‘High Peak and Derbyshire Dales Health Champion Project’ helps people to access the information and support they need to enable them to adopt a healthier lifestyle. The project has a team of volunteer Health Champions that are based in their local community.

We also operate two direct service schemes that are provided through the support of their own teams of volunteers.

The Southern Derbyshire Dales Voluntary Car Scheme provides door to door transport for elderly, disabled and vulnerable people to help them better access the medical support they need. Transport is also provided for socially therapeutic activities that benefit health. For more information call 01335 344700.

The Readycall Scheme provides practical and befriending support to help elderly, disabled and vulnerable people in the Southern Derbyshire Dales to continue to live independently. For more information call 01335 348600.
