Derbyshire Dales CVS

Derbyshire Dales CVS provides information, advice, training and support to VCS groups in the Derbyshire Dales. It also runs projects that aim to support disadvantaged people. It represents the VCS on strategic partnerships and forums.

DDCVS Key Aims

Derbyshire Dales CVS has the following key aims in our three main areas of work, Service Delivery, Strategic Work and Organizational Governance:

  • Provide high-quality information, advice, support, training and practical services that meet the needs of the local voluntary sector.
  • Promote effective communication and partnership working between organizations from all sectors.
  • Ensure that DDCVS is a strong and sustainable organization with excellent governance, management, policy and practice.

Working towards our key aims

Service Delivery

Provide high-quality information, advice, support, training and practical services that meet the needs of the local voluntary sector.

In order to do this, DDCVS will:

• Deliver development work that promotes strong and sustainable voluntary organisations.

• Deliver a training programme that is responsive to the needs of the voluntary sector.

• Provide up-to-date and relevant information to the voluntary sector.

• Deliver the Signpost Project.

• Provide practical services to the voluntary sector.

• Work with local people to develop new groups and projects that will meet identified need.

Strategic Work

Promote effective communication and partnership working between organizations from all sectors.

In order to do this, DDCVS will:

• Influence policy and practice by ensuring representation of the voluntary sector at a strategic level.

• Encourage the development of a strong and unified voluntary sector.

• Promote collaborative working between the voluntary, statutory and commercial sectors.

Organizational Governance

Ensure that DDCVS is a strong and sustainable organization with excellent governance, management, policy and practice.

In order to do this, DDCVS will:

• Ensure sufficient resources, and effective management of resources, to enable achievement of Forward Plan objectives.

• Promote quality in all aspects of the organization’s work.

• Develop strategies and policies that will ensure the development and effectiveness of the organization.

Types of Services:

  • Information, training, advice and support to voluntary and community groups.
  • Provision of practical services (e.g. photocopying, loan of equipment etc..)
  • Signposting and Support Project that works with families in the Derbyshire Dales, High Peak and Chesterfield.
  • Common Assessment Framework Project in Chesterfield.
  • Community Development work on Hurst Farm Estate, Matlock.
  • Health Trainer Project in Matlock.
  • Facilitation of Learning Disability Partnership for High Peak and northern Dales.
  • Volunteer Centre Derbyshire Dales base for the northern Dales.

 

9 FTE paid staff. 150 members.  500 organisations as contacts.
