Development: We identify unmet need and help others meet that need through development of new services.
For example: We do this by consulting with the community about local issues.
Supporting local voluntary and community groups: We provide information, advice and support to both groups and individuals.
For example: We do this by helping groups with charity registration, funding advice and administrative support.
Liaison: We enable and encourage people from different agencies and sectors to meet and develop links.
For example: We do this by co-ordinating meetings such as the Village Hall Forum and the Voluntary Sector Forum.
Enabling Representation: We enable the voluntary and community sector to put forward their views and act as a voice where appropriate
For example: We do this by seeking views on local, regional and national plans or strategies.
Partnership Work: We encourage local voluntary and statutory agencies to plan together for the benefit of the community.
For example: We do this by coming together with Police, Social Services, Health and Councils to help improve community safety.
Direct Services: We provide services to support individuals where there is unmet need and no other organisation can provide this service.
For example: We do this by organising a lunch club and a social car scheme.
Types of Services:
Administration
General admin service including copying, equipment hire, production of newsletters, posters, payroll service
Advocacy
Support to adults with mental health difficulties
Community Development
Consult with communities about local health and social care needs. Provide advice and support on getting started as a new group/organisation e.g. constitutions & charitable status.
Help groups and communities to carry out community research and consultation with stakeholders.
Work in partnership with others to meet gaps in services.
Provide advice and support on sources of funding.
Enable people from different agencies and sectors to develop links.
Help develop new services.
CYPRSS
The Children & Young People's Referral & Support Service is a signposting and referral service. This means we put families in touch with services we think can help them. CYPRSS is a short-term service, which helps to find services that can offer families long-term solutions.
Volunteer Centre
Recruits and places anyone interested in volunteering.
Supports organisations that work with volunteers.
Family Support (Domestic Abuse)
The service supports families where there are children affected by Domestic Abuse situations.
Funding Advice
Supports voluntary and community groups to access funding by providing:
Advice on planning a fundraising strategy
Help with identifying appropriate funders
Advice on writing funding applications
Bi-monthly funding supplement
Use of the Funderfinder computer database

This is an information and signposting service which provides:

Helpsheets and Information Booklets
Learning & Development
Identification of learning and development needs
Signposting to appropriate learning opportunities
A range of voluntary sector specific non-accredited and accredited learning
Awareness raising for statutory agencies
Self Help Support
We offer a wide range of services to help and support Self Help Groups in the area. We can help by:
Setting up new groups
Supporting existing groups
Social Car Scheme
The Social Car Scheme is a volunteer transport service which aims to match up transport requests with volunteer driver availability.
Safer Homes Project
Safer Homes is a mobile joinery service working to improve security in the homes of elderly and vulnerable people. The scheme works by installing additional door and window locks and other appropriate equipment free of charge.
Travelling Lunch Club
The Travelling Lunch Club offers a chance to socialise with friends old and new by providing a trip out and lunch at a different venue each month.
Health Training
Provides signposting and support to individuals and community groups on a variety of health issues.
