Health Trainer / Trainee Health Trainer

 

Qualified Health Trainer - NJC Scale 2 pt 13   £15,444 (pro rata) 29.6 hours per week

Trainee Health Trainer NJC Scale 1 pt 9   £13,589 (pro rata) 29.6 hours per week

 

Derbyshire Dales CVS supports local voluntary and community groups across the Derbyshire Dales, and runs projects that support disadvantaged and marginalised people.

 

We currently have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to join us as a Health Trainer or as a Trainee Health Trainer. The post will be based at Hurst Farm Community Centre in Matlock and you will also spend time located in GP practices. You will be working primarily in Matlock.

 

A Health Trainer works with local people to help them improve their health by:

 

·        Helping them to make better health choices;

·        Helping them to find the services that they need;

·        Providing people with information about health issues;

·        Supporting them to make changes in their lifestyle that will improve their health.

 

The successful candidate for the post of Health Trainer will have passed City and Guilds 3075 Certificate for Health Trainers, or will be working towards this qualification.

 

No formal qualifications are required to apply for the post of Trainee Health Trainer as full training and the gaining of a City & Guilds qualification will be a requirement. However, the successful applicant should be able to demonstrate:

 

  • A good knowledge of the community in which they will be working;
  • Good communications skills;
  • Basic standards of numeracy and literacy;
  • An ability to work with people both individually and in groups;
  • Good time management and self management skills.

 

Appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory CRB check. The funding for this post is currently secured until March 2012, with the possibility of extension. Derbyshire Dales CVS strives to be an equal opportunities employer.
